Geared cylinder lock comprising a cylinder (8) mounted in a passage made in the case (1) of the lock and provided with a web (10) for driving a toothed ring (12) mounted rotatably in the case about the passage (9) for the cylinder and cooperating with a pinion (15) equipped with two sprockets (19) for driving a deadbolt (2) of the lock in translational movement by means of fingers (6) carried by the bolt, characterised in that the sprockets (19) of the pinion (15) for driving the bolt and the fingers (6) carried by the latter have contact zones of polygonal profiles allowing an idling angular displacement of the pinion (15) for driving the bolt of a specific amount on either side of an intermediate position and ensuring the immobility of the deadbolt in the retracted position. <IMAGE>
