The speech is encoded digitally by frames (S) and the encoded frames (S1) are converted into error-free speech- and channel-coded frame (S2). These are combined into multi-speech frames (MSF1) for transmission (T) over the channel (CH). Intermediate speech frames may be formed from the speech- and channel-coded frames prior to the multi-speech frame formation. At the receiver (R) two decoding stages (DCS1, DCS2) are sepd. by a circuit (CU1) segregating speech- and channel-coded frames, and followed by a speech decoder (SD1), D/A converter and output unit (AE). |
