In order to manufacture a shiny aluminium object a chromate conversion layer is applied and then an impression coating on the outer surface and then a dielectric substrate base coating; a corrosion-sensitive metal, indium in this case, is vacuum-deposited on the dielectric substrate base coating in order to form "islets" of indium which are coated in finishing with a layer of transparent resin in order to coat and isolate the islets. The islets of indium have a thickness of less than 1000 angstroms and a mean diameter of less than 3000 angstroms. The islet structure is etched after the growth of the metal between the nucleation stage and the stage of channel formation. The etching product is chosen in order to unblock the channels between the islet structures and to improve the adherence of the finishing coating with a dielectric resin base on the dielectric substrate. The preferred application of the invention is the manufacture of aluminium embellisher components. <IMAGE> |
