PURPOSE:To obtain a binder fiber suitable for producing a fiber structure material such as nonwoven fabric, stiff cotton, fiber cushion and urethane substitute having excellent heat-resistance, settling resistance and durability as final product. CONSTITUTION:This heat-bondable fiber is a core-sheath conjugate fiber composed of a core consisting of a polyester containing ethylene terephthalate as the major part of the recurring structural unit and a sheath consisting of a copolymerized polyester or a side-by-side conjugate fiber composed of the above polyester and copolymerized polyester. The copolymerized polyester constituting the low-melting component contains butylene terephthalate unit and butylene isophthalate unit as the recurring structural unit at the terephthalate/isophthalate ratio of 80/20 to 60/40. The low-melting component has a melting point of 150-190 deg.C and a flexural modulus of >=25,000kg.f/cm<2> at 23 deg.C. |
