摘要 |
PURPOSE:To obtain a ceramic-based composite material containing silicon carbide as a main component of matrix, enabling the loading of a relatively large amount of a reinforcing material, exhibiting suppressed lowering of the density of sintered material and the deterioration of the reinforcing material and having high strength and excellent reliability. CONSTITUTION:This ceramic-based composite material is composed of a matrix containing silicon carbide as a main component and silicon nitride as a subsidiary component and a reinforcing material dispersed in the matrix. The silicon nitride particle in the matrix contains <=1wt.% of iron. The ceramic-based composite material can be produced e.g. by using a reaction sintering silicon carbide 1 as the main component of the matrix and nitriding the free metallic silicon 3 formed by the reaction sintering process to form silicon nitride particles 5. A metallic silicon containing iron is used as the reaction sintering process. |
