PURPOSE:To produce the compound useful as a foaming agent for urethane foam, aerosol propellant and cleaning agent for electronic circuit board, etc., in a high yield by reacting vinylidene chloride with hydrogen fluoride in the presence of melamine. CONSTITUTION:1,1-Dichloro-1-fluoroethane is produced by reacting vinylidene chloride with hydrogen fluoride in the presence of melamine in liquid phase at -40 to +90 deg.C for 4-20hr. The amount of hydrogen fluoride is about 30mol based on 1mol of vinylidene chloride and that of melamine is 0.5-40wt.% based on hydrogen fluoride. Vinylidene chloride used as a raw material is reacted at essentially 100% conversion and there is little production of 1-chloro-1,1- difluoroethane as a by-product. |
