METHOD FOR BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT OF WOODY WASTE

PURPOSE:To provide a method for biological treatment in which fibrous substances can economically be hydrolyzed at a high rate with a high efficiency and hydrogen can be produced by biodegrading lignins which have hitherto been difficult to be degraded with a microorganism. CONSTITUTION:A woody waste is biologically treated in a lignin degrading step for degrading the lignin into hydrogen and a lower carbon compound with a microorganism and a cellulose saccharifying step for hydrolyzing cellulosic substances into monosaccharides. In this process, a termitic enteric canal- originated microbial community prepared by the anaerobically accumulated culturing in the presence of at least a CX cellulase is used as the microorganism and preferably further used in the cellulose saccharifying step.
