The invention relates to a musical scale tile which has a simple construction particularly suitable for laying on a pavement for guiding an amblyopic person to produce a musical scale sound of a correct and beautiful tone quality. The musical scale tile comprises a base member (1) and a surface member (2) which are joined together and either or both of which are provided with a recess to form a cavity (3) when joined together. A desired musical scale sound is obtained by varying a volume of the cavity (3). The base member (1) is provided with drain holes (4) so as to prevent the cavity (3) from being varied in volume due to dew condensation or invasion of water. In the case where the musical scale tile is big, the base member (1) is provided with a strut or struts (5). A single musical scale tile may be provided with a plurality of cavities having different volumes to produce various musical scale sounds. The musical scale tile is preferable for a pavement for guiding a visually handicapped person. |
