The proposal is for a braking system for motor vehicles having a pneumatic brake booster, the control valve of which can be actuated by an electromagnet. To facilitate the elimination of a force component corresponding to an initial force component otherwise to be applied by the driver on the remote actuation of the control valve, according to the invention, one of the sealing seats (28) of the control valve (19) can be directly actuated by electromagnetic means and there is a second electronic regulator (deceleration regulator (8)) which converts a desired deceleration signal (VWS) into a setting signal (SS1) which controls the electromagnet (20) actuating the sealing seat (28).
