PURPOSE:To display a course at a low cost by inputting map data based upon a map of a map book put on the market manually and using them, and combining them with distance and azimuth data from a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A transparent tablet sheet 12 is mounted on the map book 11 which is put on the market and a travel start position, the position of a destination, a travel expected course, and right-left turning intersection positions are traced on the transparent tablet sheet 12 to store map data which are required for traveling as digital data. Further, the reduction rate of the input map data is inputted on a keyboard 20. Then the travel distance and travel direction of a vehicle are sensed by sensors 15 and 16 and processed to display the travel position and travel course of the vehicle on a CRT display 19. Consequently, an optional map is usable and the map data are obtained at a low cost. |
