<p>The invention relates to an airbag of an airbag restraint system which is installed in an automobile and serves to protect a vehicle occupant in the event of a serious crash. The airbag consists of web- or sheet-like front and back elements sewn together in bag form at their edges. Each of these web- or sheet-like elements comprises a fabric woven with warp and weft yarns made of polyester resin or nylon-6,6 threads. The woven fabric has been impregnated with a resinous material which contains a polyester resin adhesive for the fibres, so that the yarns of the web- or sheet-like element become bonded together in order that fraying of the web- or sheet-like element on cutting may be effectively prevented.</p>
