PURPOSE:To provide a steering device not only capable of being made up compactly, but also by capable of surely receiving a driver by the steering wheel at the time of a secondary collision. CONSTITUTION:A steering device is provided with an upper column tube 16 that has been tiltably incorporated in a lower column tube 11 and connected by a first fracturable connecting member 17, a main shaft 21 that has been incorporated in the lower column tube 11, and an upper shaft 22 incorporated in the upper column tube 16 and whose upper end is connected to a steering wheel 28, and whose lower end is tiltably connected to the upper end of the main shaft 21, and in which this tiltable connecting part is connected by a second fracturable connecting member 27. Further, the device is provided with a movement regulating means 16b for regulating the upward axial movement of the upper shaft 22, and a fracturing means 18 for fracturing the first connecting member 17, and a retaining means for retaining the filt when the upper column tube 16 has been tilted by a prescribed amount. |
