PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of data as well as a discharge time relating to the sending of discharge data accompanying preliminary discharge in an ink jet recording apparatus and lighten a processing load applied on a central processing unit related to discharge. CONSTITUTION:As for data for preliminary discharge, discharge data for the total number of lots of discharge are not used as discharge data to be sent to a driver of a recording head, but discharge control data of one bit is used. The control data of one bit sets the discharge data for the total number of lots of discharge data to 1/0 in a head controller according to its value of 1/0. By this method, a central processing unit needs not transfer the discharge data for the number of lots of discharge as to the preliminary discharge and may send the control data of one bit only, whereby the amount of data and time required for transfer can be reduced. |
