1-Halo-cis-3-tetradecenes and their use for the preparation of cis-olefin compounds

Compounds are described which can be employed as raw materials for the preparation of cis-olefin compounds which can be employed as physiologically active substances, such as sex pheromones of various insects. The compounds can also be employed cost-effectively as intermediates for syntheses on the industrial scale. Processes for the preparation of cis-olefin compounds using these compounds are additionally described. In particular, novel compounds, i.e. 1-halo-cis-3-tetradecenes of the formula I CH3(CH2)9CH=CH(CH2)2X in which X is a halogen atom, are employed as raw materials for the preparation of cis-olefin compounds.
