A transformer supply circuit for the low-voltage network for operating halogen lamps which are supplied therefrom in parallel, has a voltage regulator for correcting overvoltage which occurs, in accordance with the time constant of the electromagnetic circuit, at the lamps which are still ready to operate, until the decay of the load-current component of a lamp which has just failed. In case the regulator does not operate rapidly enough, then an overvoltage comparator switches the still intact lamps over temporarily to operation at undervoltage or switches them off entirely. In order not to await the critical rise in voltage at all, the temporary switching over can be triggered instead or in addition, if a measuring circuit, for example a resistor bridge circuit or an RF current-measuring circuit, determines the rapid load reduction as a result of a present failure of one of the lamps.
