Thawing plate for deep-frozen food, in particular meat products, for microwave appliances

The frozen food which is introduced into microwave appliances and is to be thawed starts to cook even if the level or wattage specified as favourable for the thawing is kept to. This leads, especially in the case of meat products, to a considerable impairment in taste or to the frozen food becoming unusable. The thawing plate helps to prevent this initial cooking. To avoid the initial cooking, the thawing plate has a structure similar to a bed of nails inside a dish-like moulding made of heat-resistant and microwave suitable material. The thawing plate may be made in one piece (e.g. glass). By virtue of the pin arrangement (rounded-off pins), the contact surface between thawing plate and frozen food laid thereon is kept as small as possible, thereby preventing the initial cooking, which in most cases takes place on the underside of the frozen food, i.e. at the point of contact with the support. The liquid produced during thawing flows down the pins and is collected in the dish moulding. The thawing plate finds application in all microwave appliances of the domestic and catering sector. <IMAGE>
