Method for regulating a constant winding speed of thread-like material. During the winding of thread-like material, the rotational speed of the spindle drive motor is to be lowered in dependence on the increasing package diameter, in such a way that the thread tension follows a predetermined value during the winding operation. For this purpose, the rotational-speed/torque characteristics of any number of different thread-tension curves and the idling/torque characteristic of the motor are filed in a microprocessor control. The microprocessor control calculates from the rotational-speed/torque characteristics of a specific selected thread-tension curve and the idling torque the total torque which is assigned to the respective rotational speed and which is imparted to the drive motor as a desired current value. The invention can be used on spinning, twisting or winding machines with an individual motor drive.
