Clamping unit for an injection-moulding machine and method of operating the same

The invention relates to a clamping unit and a method of operating this unit. A servo motor 8, fastened on a rear plate 3, is used for driving two final control elements 16 with screw and nut by a pressurized hydraulic cylinder 28, in order to actuate an outwardly bending toggle-joint mechanism 7 for executing a mould opening function and a mould clamping function. Utilising a limited space, a servo motor 43, fastened on the movable plate 6, is used for driving a nut 58, having the effect that the screw 62 and an injecting rod 54 move back and forth. Finally, an electric motor 38, fastened on the rear plate 3, drives a mould-setting mechanism. Furthermore, a servo motor, fitted on a plate 27, is likewise driven, in order to complete the mould setting quickly and automatically. <IMAGE>
