The consumers allocated to the superpressure pump can be switched on and shut off independently of one another, each consumer having a device allocated to it which discharges the pressurised-water quantity shut off in the respective consumer due to the consumer being switched off. The wear in this device is to kept as low as possible. This is achieved by the device having a choke section which is formed by an annular gap (24) and through which the pressurised-water quantity shut off in the consumer escapes. The superpressure pumps are used for cleaning articles of the most varied type.
