<p>A method, system, and filter assembly for removing deleterious matter from a cardioplegia mixture is disclosed. A biological fluid is pumped from a patient through a cardiotomy reservoir (31) and drawn into a venous reservoir (21) and then passed through a heat exchanger (23). A cardioplegia fluid in a container (10) is mixed with the biological fluid at a junction (19) to form a cardioplegia mixture, and the cardioplegia mixture is passed through a cardioplegia filter assembly (13) including a porous medium to remove deleterious matter from the mixture. The treated mixture is then passed to a heat exchanger (16) before being returned to the patient.</p> |
