The device enhances the automatic convergence correction by controlling the direction of the deflection magnetic field. The device contains: a magnetic field generation coil which generates correction magnetic field to correct the misconvergence; a variable volume control to control the induced current into the coil; and a horizontal deflection coil of the deflection yoke. The magnetic field generating coil is organized by winding the coils on the several iron cores in opposite directions. Also the variable volume forces the induced current to flow asymmetrically.
