A description is given of a profile load-bearing member for protective railings for roof work, associated railing tubes being fastened on one or more posts, one or more load-bearing members being arranged on the gable side, and there being formed, in an axially displaceable and fixable manner, on the load-bearing member in the longitudinal direction, a casing-like profile (quiver-like profile) which serves to receive the protective railing.
