It is known to pivotably secure a pneumatic compression spring at one end by the end provided with a bolt being inserted into a mounting fixture and then by the pneumatic compression spring being pivoted by 90 DEG transversely to its longitudinal axis into its functional position. Furthermore, fastening devices are known in which the pneumatic compression spring is connected in a push-in manner to a mounting arrangement roughly parallel to its longitudinal direction in the fitted position, the mounting arrangements consisting of a relatively large number of parts and being prone to wear and failure in operation. The novel fastening device for pivotably securing an end (2) of a pneumatic compression spring (1) to a support part (3) comprises a bolt (5), fixed to the end of the pneumatic compression spring so as to run transversely to the longitudinal axis (4) of the pneumatic compression spring, as well as a mounting part (6) on the support-part side and a mounting part (9) on the pneumatic-compression-spring side interacting with the mounting part (6), the mounting part (6) on the support-part side having a through-opening (7) in such a way that the bolt can be pushed through only in a position turned about its longitudinal axis preferably by about 90 DEG relative to the functional position of the pneumatic compression spring, the bolt, in the functional position of the pneumatic compression spring, interacting with a rear stop surface (8) of the mounting part (6) on the support-part side. Use, for example, for pivotably securing a pneumatic compression spring to a vehicle tailgate.
