In an optical fibre sensor for measuring electrical fields and voltages, two separate similar two-mode fibres (5a,5b) are connected in cascade in the manner of a tandem interferometer, instead of one continuous two-mode fibre between sensor head (15) and evaluation unit (14). The first two-mode fibre (5a) used as sensor fibre is operated in reflection geometry. It is arranged together with the sensor element (6) in the sensor head (15). The second two-mode fibre (5b) used as reference fibre is located inside the separate evaluating unit (14). In the latter, at least one fibre coupler or beam divider is also provided which is required by operating the sensor fibre in reflection geometry. Sensor head (15) and evaluating unit (14) are connected by a single insensitive monomode fibre. <IMAGE> |
