Rear support for vehicles having a trailer coupling (1) and a complementary part (20) which fits the trailer coupling (1) and is mounted on a support (30) which is provided with a supporting device (40). On the support (30) there are provided devices (35, 36) for transmitting forces from the support (30) to a mount (4) on the trailer coupling (1). To the complementary part (20) there is fastened a pivotable lever (23) with a handle (24), and the lever (23) is connected to a mechanical locking mechanism which, when closed, prevents displacement of the complementary part (20) with respect to the trailer coupling (1) and, when open, permits a supporting device (40) on the support (30) to be raised by means of the handle (24). <IMAGE>
