The invention relates to water-dispersible tablets comprising an active compound such as acyclovir or lamotrigin, and a dispersing agent. The dispersing agent is a binding clay such as a smectite, for example Veegum F or bentonite, and is generally present in the tablet granules so as to provide a tablet which is capable of dispersing in water within 3 minutes so as to form a dispersion which passes through a 710 μm sieve. The tablet may be film coated, and in this case the dispersion time is less than 5 minutes.
