PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal display device which is wide in effective visual field angle and lessens abnormal display. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display device is provided with installs a liquid crystal cell packed with liquid crystals 4 between a pair of substrates 1a, 1a on the surface of which oriented films are formed. The device described above forms plural oriented regions varying in the orientation bearings or rising direction of liquid crystal molecules formed within its display screen. The material of the oriented films 3a, 3b is composed of the polyimide selected from the group consisting of a polyimide which has 300 to 400 deg.C glass transition temp., a polyimide which has no two rotationally symmetrical axes in skeleton, a polyimide in which a non-conjugation carbon occupies at 10 to 60% of total carbon atoms exclusive of the imide bonded part in the skeleton, a polyimide which has 4 to 7 specific dielectric constant at 1kH frequency at 20 deg.C, a polyimide in which the tetracarboxylic dianhydride part does not induce free rotation and a polyimide which has >=90% imidization rate. |
