PURPOSE:To provide an optical repeater system capable of verifying a fault position by a downstream side terminal station even normal repeating to the downstream side is impossible due to an upstream side fault such as the characteristic deterioration of main signal light and the interruption of an input. CONSTITUTION:In a monitoring means 70, an optical demultiplexer 71 demultiplexes a part of inputted main signal light as monitoring signal light, an input interruption detecting part 72 detects an input interruption based upon the monitoring signal light, and when the detected result indicates input interruption, a control part 73 drives a driver 76 and a laser diode 77 and outputs fault information signal light including information inherent in this optical repeater system itself to erbium added fiber 30. |
