The invention relates to a toaster type device in which the toast can be observed through the transparent heat-resistant glass walls, with no risk of overheating or cracking. The invention consists of a wall of transparent toughened glass (3), an infrared element (2), and a microreflector (1) interposed between the glass (3) and the resistor (2). The infrared radiation emitted by the resistor (2) is thus reflected by the minireflector (1) and does not strike the glass (3) directly. This minireflector (1) has a curved cross-section and also a very small surface area so that it is possible to observe the bread through the glass (3) as it is toasting. <IMAGE>
