Static seal between a first element (1) engaged in a second element (2) which cannot move relative to one another, the two elements (1, 2) being mounted so that they can slide in a housing of a support and subjected simultaneously to a high fluid pressure. This seal includes, in a blind housing (9) delimited between the two elements (1, 2), on the one hand a first elastic ring (11) applied against the first element (1) and a second elastic ring (2) inserted in the second element (2), these elastic rings being arranged concentrically and spaced apart and, on the other hand, a piston (13) subjected to the fluid pressure and exhibiting a rod (14) engaged between the two elastic rings (11, 12) in order to compress them against the bottom of the housing (9) using the piston (13) under the action of the pressure. Such a seal may especially be used in a weapon with liquid propellant. <IMAGE>
