PURPOSE: To inhibit cicatrization by an implantable medical device by inserting a device covered on its surface with a composition containing a biocompatible polymer and an extracellular matrix molecule or its fragment into a site in a living body. CONSTITUTION: A method for inhibiting cicatrization in a site in a living body where a medical device is inserted is effected by inserting a device covered on its surface with a biocompatible polymer and an extracellular matrix molecule or its fragment into the site in the living body. This covering is achieved, e.g. by spraying or by dipping the surface in an appropriate solution, and preferably the biocompatible polymer covers the surface and then an extracellular matrix protein covers the surface. Therefore, the cover prepared has a high antifouling characteristic and has excellent stickiness and smoothness. |
