PURPOSE:To effectively and safely remove or prevent the malodor of oil to thereby deodorize the oil. CONSTITUTION:A deodorant 1 enclosed in a container 2 having an oil passage hole is placed in an oil 12, such as a hydraulic oil or a lubricating oil. The deodorant 1 comprises a porous silica gel having on the surface of the pores an aluminosilicate coating containing antibacterial metal ions. The ions tend to diffuse rapidly in the pores so that they will contact bacteria at a large area of contact therewith. |
