Method of processing digitised images in X-ray imaging, in order to identify each edge of one or more regions masked by one or more field flaps which vertically and/or horizontally bound the field of the X-ray image, comprising at least the following stages: 1) Identifying a set of pixels which are the best candidates for being points on the edge of the flap. 2) Estimating the best straight line in order to constitute the edge of the field flap region. 3) Making a decision relating to the presence, or to the absence, of an edge of a flap region corresponding to this straight line. Application: digitised medical imaging system.
