PRODUCTION OF ALIPHATIC DICARBOXYLIC ACID

PURPOSE:To provide an industrially inexpensive production process for very useful aliphatic dicarboxylic acids such as succinic or glutaric acid by fixing oxygen efficiently. CONSTITUTION:The liquid-phase oxidation of a cycloalkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon of the formula: Ar-(B)n (Ar is an aromatic hydrocarbon group; B is cyclohexyl or cyclopentyl; n is 1 or 2) is effected using molecular oxygen to give an aromatic carboxylic acid and an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid.
