PURPOSE:To provide a method for production of a cushioning material improved in fatigue resistance. CONSTITUTION:A stiff fiber 11 made of a PET fiber is paid out from a bobbin 3 into a coating unit 5 by driving a drive roller 4 so as to be coated with a resin 12 composed of a polyester-based elastomer melt. The stiff fiber 11 coated with the resin melt 12 is introduced into a cooling tank 6 containing cooling water 60 so as to be cooled. Crimp is given to the stiff fiber 11 coated with the resin 12 by introducing it into a crimper 7. The coated fiber 1 is cut by a cutter 9 to produce coated staples 10. The resultant coated staples 10 are accumulated and bonded to each other, thus producing the objective cushioning material. |
