PURPOSE:To provide a method for producing a tubular porous carbon article, enabling a burning carbonization treatment without causing a defective phenomenon such as cracking, breakage or deformation on a tubular molded raw material. CONSTITUTION:A method for producing a tubular porous carbon article by embedding a tubular molded raw material in a carbonaceous packing material in an oven and subsequently subjecting the raw material to a burning carbonization treatment comprises inserting a rigid carbon shaft bar 2 longer than the length of the tubular molded raw material 1 and having the same or slightly smaller outer diameter as or than the inner diameter of the tubular molded material 1 after the burning into the hollow of the tubular molded material 1, and subsequently subjected the tubular molded raw material to a burning carbonization treatment in a state wherein both the ends of the tubular molded material 1 are covered with cap-like rigid carbon jigs 3 capable of being fixed to the rigid carbon shaft bar 2. |
