PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer ink sheet not causing background staining and image irregularity at the time of printing by providing an ink layer consisting of a thermally diffusible dye and a binder and having specific glass transition temp. on the single surface of a base material. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer ink sheet is formed by laminating an ink layer consisting of a thermally diffusible dye and a binder and having a glass transition temp. of 60-70 deg.C on the single surface of a base material. As the binder constituting the ink layer, a mixture of a vinyl chloride resin and an alkyl (meth)acrylate polymer or a mixture of a polycarbonate resin and an alkyl (meth)acrylate polymer is designated. The thermal transfer ink sheet is obtained by dissolving the aforementioned binder and the thermally diffusible dye such as a nonionic azo dye in a proper solvent to prepare ink and applying this ink to the base material such as a base film to dry the same. |
