PURPOSE:To make indistinct the unpleasant sound of the bumping of refrigerant in an indoor apparatus by a method wherein the temperature difference between the inlet and the outlet of the outdoor heat exchanger during quiet operation is detected and, when the temperature at the inlet is higher than the set value and the temperature difference is smaller than the set value, the number of revolutions of the indoor-side blower is increased above the set value. CONSTITUTION:After the start of quiet operation, data on the inlet temperature of the heat exchanger of the outdoor apparatus 11 are inputted and compared with a temperature preliminarily set as a condition for subcooling for refrigerant to keep from bumping inside the heat exchanger of the indoor apparatus 10. If the inlet temperature of the heat exchange is higher, additionally data on the outlet temperature of the heat exchanger of the outdoor apparatus 11 are inputted to find the temperature difference as against the inlet temperature, which is compared with the temperature difference set as another condition for the subcooling. If the inlet temperature of the outdoor-side heat exchanger is higher an the temperature difference between the inlet and the outlet is smaller, refrigerant is conveyed to the indoor apparatus 10 in a mixed state of gas and liquid; the blower is operated at a number of revolutions increased above the set value for quiet operation so as to make the revolution equal to the level of irregular noises caused by the bumping in the heat exchanger on the indoor side.
