The light has a sealed envelope (1) which is waterproof, inside which is printed circuit board (2) carrying a matrix of light emitting diodes. A transparent cover (3) fits over the LED's. An optical system is formed by lens or prisms glued to the underside of the cover glass, in order to direct the beam produced by the LED's. The optical elements may be made of material having the same refractive index as the cover glass, or a different value. The LED's may be arranged in matrices of one colour, or different colours. ADVANTAGE - Signalling lamp for communication between ships, requiring less power than conventional filament lamps. |
