The invention relates to a cooking apparatus in which food which is received in a rotatably mounted basket (2, 2') is cooked by heated air. Through the rotation or the filling and emptying of the basket (2, 2'), food parts may come out of the basket region and into the housing (5). In time, these food particles are charred by the heated air and, owing to the air vortices present in the cooking apparatus during operation, are brought back on to the food being cooked so that the latter suffers a loss of visual quality and quality of taste. To improve the cooking results, it is thus proposed to arrange and construct catching devices (15) in such a way that food, or remains thereof, which has dropped into the housing (5, 5') is put out of reach of the action of the flowing and heated air conveyed by a fan (13, 14). <IMAGE>
