A stitch-making machine with an adjusting device for the position of the range of movement of a pressure foot movable back and forth relative to a workpiece, and with a thread-wiping device, is to be designed in such a way that the thread wiper can be set in motion, without the need for a specific drive, in relation to a predeterminable position of the pressure foot. For this purpose, the thread wiper is arranged so as to be relatively movable in relation to the pressure foot.
