A sanitary fitting contains an actuating element with the aid of which the position of a valve can be changed. A movement of the actuating element leads to a change in the quantity of water flowing out while actuation in another direction leads to a change in the temperature. According to the invention, a stop element is provided which can be placed on part of the fitting in the housing of the fitting and can be fixed there without further measures. This stop element limits the movement of the valve into the position associated with maximum temperature, providing protection against scalding.
