In the case of known methods for receiver-side processing of meteorological satellite images, problems result - in particular for inexperienced observers - because no information relating to the position of the observer can be derived from the images. Location of the position of the observer is in particular affected by this. In the case of the present invention, these problems are avoided since location and display of the position of the receiver in the represented image is made possible by inputting the geographical position of the receiver at the instant of acquiring the meteorological satellite image to be represented.
