PERCUTANEOUS COLOSTOMY CATHETER

A colostomy catheter having a catheter (1) defining a drainage and irrigation channel has a balloon (2) attached to its outer surface. A skirt (5) is attached to the catheter above the balloon and is releasably folded against the catheter by a sleeve (10) or clip. A balloon inflation channel (2a) is provided for supplying fluid to inflate the balloon after insertion of the catheter and balloon into the colon and to thereby trap a portion of the colon wall between the balloon and the released skirt, sealing the colon wall about the catheter.
