<p>Steam-generation device and process for producing an evaporation chamber base. The invention relates to a steam generation device with a heating device placed in thermal connection with an evaporation chamber, wherein a liquid container communicates with said evaporation chamber, which comprises a base (3) towards which the liquid to be evaporated is directed, said base (3) including a region defining a surface layer (A) partly embedded in the base (3) within the evaporation chamber. Said layer (A) includes, across its surface, hydrophilic fibers (1) which are at least partially and locally embedded in the constituent material of said layer (A).
