Method for suppressing reception interference in an FM receiver

In a method for suppressing reception interference in an FM receiver, the reception interference is analysed through evaluation of the field strength signal and subjected to weighting. Furthermore, the MPX signal is evaluated in order to obtain a signal which is representative of the respective modulation shift. The shift in the modulation signal is also taken into account in the decision regarding the implementation and/or effectiveness of interference suppression measures. In the case of a significant modulation shift, no interference suppression measures are implemented if the measure is likely to be more detrimental to subjective audibility than the interference itself.
