PROCESS FOR PRODUCING POLYCARBONATE

A process for producing a polycarbonate by the transesterification between a carbonic diester and a dihydric phenol, which comprises using an alkali metal amide having at least one hydrogen atom thereof substituted as a polycondensation catalyst, thereby producing a chemically stable polycarbonate having excellent thermal stability and hydrolysis resistance and a sufficiently high molecular weight at a good productivity.
