MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES TO EGG YOLK IMMUNOGLOBULINS (IGY)

Chicken antibodies have grown in popularity for use in immunoassays due to several advantages over mammalian antibodies. Using purified IgG from chicken yoke a series of murine monoclonal antibodies were developed and characterized by ELISA and immunoblotting techniques. The monoclonal antibodies obtained have a high affinity to chicken IgG, specifically the heavy chain of IgG. No cross reactivity with human, murine, goat or rabbit IgG was observed. These monoclonal antibodies have been used as reporter antibodies and have also been conjugated to horse radish peroxidase without any apparent loss in specificity or affinity for chicken IgG.
