The invention relates to a transmission for the infinitely variable adjustment of the transmission ratio with positive torque transmission, in which a wheel composed of individual gearwheels (or satellites) of relatively small diameter is formed, it being possible to vary their radial spacing to give a gearwheel with different diameters which is then, in turn, in positive engagement with a second, fixed or likewise radially adjustable, counterpart, it being possible for this counterpart to be an externally or, preferably, internally toothed annulus or else a positive tensile transmission element such as, for example, a chain. In order to ensure synchronous meshing of the teeth as the satellites engage, the satellites run on freewheels, reversible freewheels or pairwise in tandem engagement.
