<p>A window, especially one made of timber, comprising a fixed window frame (311, 321) and at least one hinged or demountable window frame (315, 324) supporting a glass pane mounted thereon has such a size that it fits with clearance into a rabbet in the fixed window frame. A self supporting, hinged inner pane (316) is mounted on the hinged window frame (315, 324) and has such a size that when the window is closed along its entire circumference it abuts on the rabbet bottom (332, 342). The width of the inner pane (316) is at least 4 mm and preferably at least 8 mm shorter than the width of the hinged window frame (315, 324) at its side facing the rabbet bottom (332, 342). The window rabbet may be step or two-shoulder shaped. A preferred embodiment is produced by the renovation and insulation of an existing single pane window mounted in a building. The window according to the invention may provide a turbulence chamber being particularly advantageous from a maintenance point of view, or it may alternatively be a particularly advantageously renovated and insulated existing window.</p> |
